Happy Birthday to Meeeeee!

Today is my 31st birthday, and I feel like I should and shouldn't be THIS excited about it. I mean, I am 31. Maybe I should act like it. Maybe I should say "it's just another day" just like everyone else. Then again, I've never been like everyone else. I've always felt like my birthday is a big deal. Because let's get serious here. In my head, I am a VERY big deal.

As a child, on up until I was a teenager, I used to count down from 60 days until my birthday, and leave post-it notes around the house to let the family know how many present-buying days they had left, and had an "approved gifts" list ready. Now that I'm an adult, I don't do the post-it notes anymore (although I did play around with the idea of placing a counter here on the blog), but I always, at any given moment, have a list ready. Just go type my name in over at and you'll see what I mean.

I was really concerned that I would take turning 31 as hard as I took turning 30. But, I am happy to report that I have not had a nervous breakdown. In honor of keeping my sanity and not being locked up in a padded room, I wanted to look back on the past year, and chronicle how my life has changed:

*Trey left for college
*Cathryn started the first grade
*Leslie and I became the Children's Choir Directors at Screven and put on two musicals
*Richie got me a new car!
*I lost 40 pounds
*We started spending a lot more time together as a family, taking trips and having outings
*I stopped recapping American Idol, and began chronicling our family's journey
*Cathryn started voice lessons
*I thought about quiting blogging
*I began taking piano lessons
*Cathryn began sleeping in her own bed!
*Trey played his last baseball game at Mike Johnson Park
*God thumped me in the head and told me that I actually had a great life, and to stop whining that I wasn't famous.

Wow...that's a lot in one year! And looking back, it's been a really good year. Of course, I knew that while I was going through it.

Coming soon--birthday swag post!

Happy Birthday Josie! 31 is not so bad. I have been 31 for a few weeks, and I don't feel and older. 30 was so much worse!
