Life Soundtrack

A few days ago, when I was discussing my novel (it sounds so pretentious to say it, but I don't have any other way to say it) with my sister, we were talking about soundtracks, and how each character has their own theme song, like "Linus and Lucy" by Vince Guaraldi . Naturally, as it goes with Tracey and me, the discussion turned to ourselves. What are our themes? Tracey told me that one of hers was "Green Onions" by Booker T. and the MGs. Strangely enough for me, I could not think of one song that could be called my theme song.

I voiced my concerns to my sister, and she offered up the following rules for finding/choosing your own theme song:
1. You can't search for your song; it has to find you.
2. The rhythm must accentuate your personal rhythm-- how you walk, move, etc.
3. If there are lyrics, lyrics must be applicable to your situation in life (you pick a song without lyrics if your situation constantly changes).
4. You must like the song.

With that in mind, I drafted my own personal soundtrack (Click on the link to have a listen):
1. I Love You, Lord
2. I Could Sing Of Your Love Forever
3. How Great Is Our God
4. Buffy the Vampire Slayer Theme
5. Born To Fly
6. Part of That World
7. The Middle
8. Everything I Do, I Do It For You
9. Christmas Time Is Here
10. Dancing Queen

Think about it. What songs define your life? Let me know!

Toodles!

"I Love You, Lord"

I love you, Lord And I lift my voice To worship you, oh my soul, rejoice Take joy my King In what you hear Let it be a sweet, sweet sound in your ear

This chorus is, by far, my favorite song in the entire Baptist Hymnal. I sing it to myself all the time, and have often thought about the way I'd love for a praise and worship team to sing it.

I'd love to start it off acapella, and in the same tune as it is in the hymnal. Then, as the final three words are sung, the tempo picks up and moves into this fast, pop sound. I'd love to hear it with clear bright vocals and harmonies.

Maybe someday...
